Rise Momma Celebrates A'darah
A’darah: Being a teenage mom, and a statistic, I knew I had to rise to the occasion. I wanted to show the generation above me, and below me, that we don't have to be failures because of our choices.
Having the odds stacked against me before I even gave birth, I knew I had to devise a plan, that consisted of me never quitting; no matter what.
Starting out with finishing my senior year of night school within two-months, to landing a job at 8-weeks pregnant, and ultimately going into labor while working, I knew that whatever was ahead of me, wasn't necessarily going to be easier, but wasn't going to be the hardest thing I had to go through.
“Having the odds stacked against me before I even gave birth, I knew I had to devise a plan, that consisted of me never quitting; no matter what. ”
Rise Momma: How do you balance entrepreneurship with being a momma?
A’darah: I include my kid in mostly everything I do. If I'm going to a meeting, we are grabbing snacks and he is coming too. If I'm making a t-shirt, he's folding or pressing. I make sure that he understands early on, the value of hard physical work.
Rise Momma: What is your business? What do you do momma?
A’darah: So I am a Creative Consultant and Designer, that produces experiences for brands, business ideas, and events. I also have my own accountability group: Escape by A'darah where women leaders + moms are able to unwind their thoughts and collaborate with like-minded women. Including in an annual retreat-style excursion.
